One night, Dave picked up Suzie and held her close. He wanted to remember this moment, the last time he would get to hold his tiny baby girl like this.

The next day was Suzie’s birthday and she would no longer be a baby.

Dave couldn’t afford to buy Suzie all the gifts he wanted to give her, but she seemed happy enough with the new teddy bear he found at the toy store.

Julie seemed a lot less interested in toys than her sister. She preferred to spend a lot of time playing outside and trying to catch bugs.

Dave found a little ant farm for her, which Julie loved. But sometimes she seemed to love terrorizing the ants more than just watching them.

Suzie, on the other hand, hadn’t yet found the one thing she was passionate about. She was having a hard time in school, so Dave tried to spend extra time with her.

He took the girls down to the park and taught Suzie how to throw a football. She did it pretty well, but she didn’t seem too thrilled about it.

Not even ice skating got her excited.
But on the walk back home, they passed a pawn shop that had a few items displayed in the window and suddenly Suzie’s eyes lit up.
“Daddy, please?” she asked, looking up at him with those big blue eyes. “It’s what I want most in the whole world!”

Dave thought for a moment. Things had been picking up at the store and he was bringing in more money. And he would do anything to make his girls happy.

So Dave bought the violin. It was used and a little scratched, but Suzie loved it.

After seeing how happy Julie and Suzie were with their newfound hobbies, Dave decided to pick up a hobby of his own. He loved working on things, tinkering with objects and taking them apart and putting them back together.

But apparently, he needed to study up a bit before the next time he decided to tinker with the TV. Now he’d have to scrounge up enough money to pay the local repairwoman.

This is the first update that was played after I installed Free Time. Julie’s hobby is science, Suzie’s is music and dance, and Dave’s is tinkering. I didn’t know Dave could mess up the TV by tinkering with it until he had broken it, LOL.
A couple of outtake shots, from the park:

Hmmm… Pierre, do you really think that’s an appropriate topic?

Yeah, I have a feeling Cheryl and Joseph aren’t going to be too happy with Pierre.
This little family is so cute! I love their little cottage as well, it suits them perfectly! I love Julie’s purple shirt!
I think the Hobbies EP is GREAT! It helps with the “Clone Effect” of multiple siblings who have the exact same stats, but they can have entirely different interests!
The extra pics are funny! Gee, you would think the husband of a school teacher would know better how to act around children, lol.
I love both the girls! Their both so different! Whos Cheryl? Shes pretty! :] Great job!!!
Amber – Thanks! I like the little house too, but I think they’re going to move into something bigger once they can afford it. There’s only one bedroom, so it’s really tight. But it is a nice little house.
I’m loving Free Time so far, although I seem to have several Sims with tinkering as their hobby!
Chloe – Thanks!
Cheryl is Cheryl Gates, the mother from the first family I introduced, the artist who lives on the farm. The kid in the outtakes is her son Orion.
Heyy Shana! Oh I remember Cheryl now, she got a different hair cut thats what it is! :] Anywayy, I have an update up at my site! Pick who you don’t want in the bottem 3!!!
I have another question! I made a school, and I’ve done it a while ago but I forgot how to put school work on their desks, I have the tables and all, I just can’t figure out how!
Chloe – Oh, the girl in the last two pictures on this update isn’t Cheryl, she’s just a townie teen. Cheryl still has the same hairstyle she had in her family’s entries. The little boy in the pictures is Orion Gates, so I just meant that his parents aren’t going to be very happy when he goes back home talking about woohoo.
Sorry for the confusion!
If you have the tables from Simlogical, you should be able to click on them when school is in session and there should be an option to create work for each of the students.
What a sweet family, except for Julie terrorizing the ants lol Dave should be nominated for Dad o’ the Year
Freetime really has extended the game, it deepens the characters and like you said it helps in avoiding the exact same stats. It just might be my favorite EP
Tinkering is a lot of fun, but very dangerous when you’ve got several in a house! It’s quite funny when they mess up, though.
