Sorry for the delay in posting, but I’m having a lot computer problems right now. I’m posting this from my laptop actually since my desktop has decided to not work right anymore. But my laptop is really slow (I bought it just for writing my books) so it can’t run The Sims 2 or much else. I’m really, really thinking about just getting a whole new computer with all kinds of upgrades. My desktop is really old, but over the years we’ve replaced just about everything in it. I’ve gotten to the point now that I’m tired of replacing bits and pieces and the processor isn’t the greatest anyway, so why not just start over?
So very tempting, although this isn’t the best time to be making big purchases considering I just had to take a week off unpaid, so I’m getting half a paycheck this week and the company is now making everyone take a paycut in order to keep our jobs.
Don’t worry though, I’ve backed up my neighborhood folder, so Pine Hollow should hopefully be fine to move to a new system if I do get one. (Still need to back up all of my downloads though.)
Edited to add: Just ordered a new computer. Thank goodness for savings accounts, LOL. Should be here in about a week. Faster processor, bigger hard drive, more RAM, and faster, newer video card. Oh, yeah. Excited!
Oh! I am excited for you! I play sims 2 on my laptop, (it’s a Dell XPS) but I keep a lot of my music and large files on a portable harddrive so it doesn’t get overloaded and run slow. But good for you! Now your game will run faster and clearer!
Oooooh, I’m jealous. My computer isn’t terribly old, but I think it was the cheapest thing on the market when it was originally bought. (We got it from one of my uncle’s friends, who was using it for some sort of business thing. Math nerds, they’re crazy.
) It has lots of trouble with TS2 & pretty much any other game I try to run on it.
Ooh, lucky you! You will love your game on your new computer! Upgrades here and there never seem to make as much difference as a whole new computer.
Hope you’re up and running again soon!
Oh yay! I’m excited for you. I have the same setup with my simple little writing laptop and then my gaming desktop. The funny thing though is that my laptop has like 4 times more hard drive space just because it’s newer and that’s the default these days, so I just load it up with my music
My desktop is like 6 years old, lol! It’s a dinosaur! How it manages to even run Sims 2 is beyond me. I’m hoping it lasts another year before we buy a new one, and by then I hope to move on to Sims 3. I dread the idea of reinstalling all my SPs and EPs. And besides that, they’re all on CD, and most computers are sold with DVD drives these days. What do you do in that instance?
Anyway, new computer! Yay!
Oh, I just remembered I meant to respond to your comment!
In the case of CDs and DVDs, my current computer and my new computer both have a combination CD/DVD drive so it reads both with no problem!
My old computer was about 6 years old too. Almost everything inside of it has been replaced or upgraded over the years.
New pc, yay! Mine is just a year old and I upgraded from my old laptop. Hubby got me that after my old pc actually blew up. I was so sad, he built it for me. I used the laptop for writing fan fic and the novel I started writing but got writer’s block. Now the kids got a hold of it and it no longer works. lol But I backed everything up on removalbe disk.
Can’t wait till your pc get there. It’s so fun getting a new one!
New shiny is always awesome!
