Shana just wondering as I fellow wordpress user how do you make posts or mini pages inside of your normal ones? (i.e. making Darcy Chase’s profile not on the home page.)
When you’re creating a new page in the admin, in the right column there’s a box labeled Page Attributes. Look for the Drop Down menu that’s labeled Parent. To make a page not show up on the homepage, but be a section of another page, you need to select the other page as the parent of the new page. For example, the “Family Bios” page is the Parent of each of the pages for my family households. And then the “Chase Household” page is the parent for the pages about Edwin and Darcy. Only the main pages that aren’t sections of another page will show up in my tabs at the top of my blog.
Shana can you just put it in 1, 2, 3 steps for me?
Okay, if you were doing something like I did with the bios, you’d do it like this: First, make your family bios page. It doesn’t matter what you put on the page, you just need to create and publish a page. Then create your household page. Again, it doesn’t matter what you put on this page and you can enter the links to the individual Sim bios later. Just create a page, but before you publish it look in the right hand column of the Page admin and there should be a box labeled Page Attributes. There’s a drop down menu labeled Parent. Click on that and if you published your Family Bios page, you’ll be able to choose that in the drop down menu. Then publish this household page.
Then you create a page for your Sim’s bio. Put all the details about the Sim on it, and before you publish, again choose the Parent page from the drop down menu in the Page Attributes on the right side. This time choose the name of the household page that you had just created in the step before this one. Publish this page. Now you have the main family bios page as the parent of the household page, and the household page as the parent of the Sim bio page. But only the family bios page will show in the tabs at the top of your blog. You can then go back and edit each of these pages to add in any links or anything else you need on them. Keep creating more household and Sim bio pages using this same method.
