PSU Fall Semester, November 2018:
George Tang, Ethan Carter, Anita Bryant, and Catherine Marshall are 21
At first, George tries to just ignore Travis whenever they pass each other at the dorm.
He’s really good at staying out of the way, working on his term papers each night just so he doesn’t have to see Catherine and Travis making out on the common room couch again.
But then, he wonders why he’s the one hiding when Travis was the one that slept with his girlfriend.
So George does what any college-aged male would do.
Kicks Travis’s ass. It isn’t exactly his proudest moment, but it sure feels good.
George knows he needs to work off the pent up anger inside him. And though pummeling Travis’s face every day sounds appealing, it probably isn’t the best option. So George starts spending more time at the campus gym.
“Hey, what about that chick?” Ethan asks. “She’s checking you out.”
“That chick is my academic adviser,” George tells him. “And she’s as old as my mom. I’ll pass.”
“You need to get back out there,” Ethan tells him. “You can’t keep hiding in your room forever while Catherine sleeps with every guy on campus.”
George is quiet for a moment. Then he asks, “Do you really think Catherine is sleeping around?”
“My room is next to hers,” Ethan says. “I hear things going on in there. Trust me, the girl gets around. So you need to get around too. You can’t let her win.”
“I didn’t know it was a contest.”
The day is a bust, however, in the girl department anyway. George’s muscles ache and burn and he’s sticky with sweat, but at least he feels too exhausted to beat down on Travis tonight, so that’s a plus.
Catherine is tired of the way everyone is treating her this semester. Ethan ignores her every time she walks into the room. She says “hey” but he never says anything back or else just gets up and leaves. George is playing the same game, not even acknowledging her existence.
At least Anita still talks to her. “How long are they going to keep up this silent treatment?” she asks.
“Well, you did hurt George pretty bad,” Anita says. “And Ethan is George’s best friend, so he probably feels like he has to stick up for him.”
“But you’re talking to me,” Catherine points out.
“Only because I know it drives Ethan crazy,” Anita says with a grin. “And it’s so much fun getting on Ethan’s nerves.”
“Seriously,” Anita goes on, “if you want anything to change, you’re going to have to talk to George and apologize. Suck it up. Be a woman.”
Catherine isn’t thrilled about it, but she knows Anita is right. She needs to try to make amends with George. So she finds him sitting in the common room one afternoon, wearing his usual moping frown.
“Hey,” she says.
“Hey,” he grunts.
“Can I sit down?”
He shrugs in response.
“Look, I just wanted to say that I’m really sorry for hurting you,” Catherine says. “I didn’t mean for you to find out like that.”
“Then how did you plan for me to find out?” George asks. “By having me walk in on him screwing you instead of just kissing?”
“No,” Catherine says, trying to reign in her anger. “I wanted to talk to you and explain why I was attracted to Travis.”
“And why is that?” George asks.
“We were together a really long time,” Catherine says. “I just…I needed something different. Something new.”
George stares at her. “That’s it? That’s why you threw away four years, for something new?”
“What did you really expect from me, George?” Catherine asks quietly. “I’m not the type of girl who wants to get married and have a bunch of babies. I’m sorry if that’s what you thought we were.”
George doesn’t say anything, he just gets up and leaves. Two-Bit Karma is playing a gig across town tonight, at a little place called Rodney’s Hideout. He still has hours before he has to be there, but suddenly, he can’t stand the thought of hanging around the dorms while he waits.
So he just walks and keeps walking, not even looking at anyone he passes along the way.
###
Apparently, it’s seniors night at Rodney’s because the only people in the place have silver hair and wrinkles. George even spots his academic adviser, who comes in with a man that he assumes is her husband.
But a gig is a gig, even if the audience doesn’t seem too thrilled by their choice of music.
It’s a relief when their job is done and George can guzzle back a beer to help improve his spirits.
“Hey, there’s a chick checking you out from the bar,” Ethan tells him.
“If she’s old enough to be my grandmother, I’m pouring the rest of my beer on you,” George says.
“No, really, she’s cute,” Ethan says. “You should go talk to her.”
“What the hell am I supposed to say to her?”
“Offer to buy her a drink, genius,” Ethan says, turning him around and pushing him toward the bar.
So George sits. He taps his fingers on the bar for a minute, trying to think of something to say to this girl. She looks familiar, but it takes him a moment to place her.
“Hey,” he says, “aren’t you in my psychology class?”
She smiles. “Yes, I am. I’m Dorothy Hernandez.”
Ethan checks in with the two a little later and smiles with satisfaction as he watches them talk animatedly.
“Man,” Ethan says to himself, “if he gets laid from this, he so owes me!”
At the end of the night, George does get her number before he leaves.
Catherine is already growing bored with Travis, but she finds some advantages to keeping him around.
A few sweet words and he’ll write her whole term paper while she spends her times on other hobbies.
###
George takes Dorothy out to the Calzon Cafe on campus one night for dinner. He can’t help feeling nervous as she smiles at him across the table.
He hasn’t ever dated anyone except Catherine. He was with her since high school. He’s never even kissed another girl. He wonders if it will be weird, feeling someone else’s lips on his.
Then he wonders if he’s being too presumptuous by thinking about kissing when they haven’t even finished their first dinner together yet.
But at the end of the night, George is feeling much more calm and happy.
And he discovers that it’s not weird at all kissing someone else.
————————————
Dorothy is a dormie that doesn’t live in the dorm with George, but she walks by the lot very often. I kept checking George’s ACR score with all of the females that walked by the dorm or that he came across to see who he might be interested in, and happily discovered that he and Dorothy have three bolts! So it didn’t take her long to agree to go out with him. 🙂
Did you notice the clouds in the sky? I finally got around to downloading the buyable sky and am starting to put it on my lots. I love the cloudy late November sky in this update.
Catherine seems to have already lost interest in Travis. She still woohoos with him, but she’s not rolling up any wants for him. Only generic wants to meet someone new and kiss and woohoo with more people. But she did roll up a want to influence someone to write her term paper, so Travis got to be the lucky guy, lol!
Title comes from “Just Want You to Know” by the Backstreet Boys. Which has the weirdest music video ever. It makes me laugh every time I watch it.
I love that last picture! The clouds look great! I’m glad George is moving on, Catherine isn’t work the wasted time in being upset over her! I gotta say, Ethan may be a man whore, but he’s a really great friend 🙂
Ethan is crass and a man whore, but he does really care about his friends and hates to see anyone hurt them. 🙂
Yay, I’m so glade George is moving on. And when he first walked past Dorothy, I though she was cute and that he should stop and speak with her. See, I picked up on teh vibes. LOL
Catherine always seemed flaky to me. But that’s young love, it doesn’t always last forever.
lol, glad you picked up on those vibes! It just George a little prodding to notice them too. 😉
Aw, I think George and Catherine just weren’t meant to be. Four years is a long time for that age but I’m glad George has been able to move on with Dorothy. She seems sweet.
LOL, trust Ethan to take all the credit! George owes him one if things with Dorothy keep going well.
Four years is a long time, especially for someone so young. But I think it’s good for George to see what else may be out there instead of sticking with Catherine, who may not want the same things he does in life.
lol, I’m sure if George and Dorothy get married one day, Ethan will take all the credit in his best man toast. 😉
Woohoo!! George is moving on and I agree, Catherine isn’t the type of girl to settle down and have babies…but I hope Dorothy is, or at least isn’t a romance sim.
~Apple Valley
George doesn’t have to worry about that this time, Dorothy is a popularity sim. So she just wants to be friends with everyone, not make out and woohoo with them, lol. 😉
LOL @ George kicking Travis’s ass! He’s so cute and ferocious! 🙂 Dorothy is very pretty! They look cute together!
I love the buyable sky! I can hardly use it in my hoods though, except in Bluewater. As soon as I put my game on the extra-large setting to be able to see it, my graphics all crash out, lol!
George had been walking around poking Travis all day and then I thought it was so funny when Travis attacked George that night but George won! 🙂
The buyable sky is great! Aw, sorry to hear that your graphics card doesn’t like letting you use it. 😦 Tell your husband a new computer with a better graphics card is a necessity, lol! 😉
That sky really does add a whole new dimension!
I’m glad George has decided to stop moping over Catherine, though, I totally understand why it would take him a while. Hope it doesn’t just jump into seriousness with the next available girl though. I felt so bad for the poor band, playing for a bunch of older people. That stunk!
I’m glad that George is finding someone new. I had forgotten originally that Catherine was a romance sim, so I was surprised at first when she fooled around. It makes sense though for her to move on, and not want to be strapped down, especially this early in the game of life.
George is adorable, I’m not surprised he found someone else to hit it off with.
lol at Rodney’s Hideout, really seems to be a silverhair club.
Catherine is a flake! I’m amused by her wondering why no one wants to deal with her at the moment.
I feel so bad for George but at least he’s moving on and Dorothy is very pretty.
It’s good that George let all of his frustrations out, but it’s also good he doesn’t do it all the time.
I’m glad he won that fight with Travis! 🙂
Catherine really doens’t seem like the kind of girl to hang on to one boy, I think 4 years really was chore to her.
I’m happy George found someone new, he really deserves someone nice!
