July 2020:
Edwin Chase is 30, Darcy is 27, Jackson is 2
(Sunny Lloyd is 61)
Lately Sunny has been bringing up the idea of another baby whenever she visits Darcy.
“Just look at how cute Jackson is,” Sunny says, gesturing toward the toddler, who is happily playing with his toys. “Don’t you want another one just like him?”
Darcy has to admit that Jackson has been a pretty easy kid. She’d heard horror stories about babies crying all night and out of control toddlers that get into everything every second of the day, and although there were a few sleepless nights and a few things broken by curious hands, it hasn’t been anything like she had feared.
“What if I have another baby and it’s nothing at all like Jackson?” Darcy asks. “Then I’ll be cursing you every time I’m crying because I’m up all night with a baby that just won’t sleep.”
“Then all you have to do is call and I’ll come right over to take care of things,” Sunny says. “It’s what grandmas are for.”
It’s not as though the idea of another baby hasn’t crossed her mind. But adjusting to becoming parents while juggling their careers took some getting used to, and Darcy is afraid to upset the balance they have now.
The three of them have managed to work out a routine. Darcy gets Jackson up in the mornings and dressed while Edwin cooks breakfast.
Jackson is fairly happy most mornings, except for being hungry. But all Darcy has to do is play with him a bit while Edwin cooks and things are perfectly under control.
Edwin goes to work a little later than Darcy does, so she heads off to the office while Edwin takes care of things around the house.
Then he drops Jackson off at Sunny’s house before heading to the police station for the day.
Supper is an “eat whenever you get home” kind of thing. Sometimes Darcy and Edwin get to eat together, but sometimes she’s working late preparing a client’s case or else he has to run out to a call that comes in just before his shift is over.
Darcy tries to play with Jackson as much as she can after work. Most days, she feels guilty for how much time she and Edwin have to spend away from him. She knew it would be like this, they both have demanding jobs, but a part of her had hoped it would be easier to find time to devote to their son.
After Jackson goes to bed, Darcy is often back at the computer, working on some notes for her cases again.
Sometimes Edwin goes to bed early, exhausted from work, or sometimes he heads down to the gym while Darcy works on the computer.
Edwin has thought about having another child, but mostly as just a passing idea. Could they really fit another kid into their lives?
He has to admit that he does like the idea. He’d love another baby like Jackson around the house. But he and Darcy get so little time together as it is.
Tonight, however, is different. The law office Darcy works for is holding a retirement party for one of their partners and Edwin and Darcy both made sure to clear their schedules for the event. Darcy can’t remember the last time she and Edwin went out as a couple, or even the last time they got dressed up like this.
Darcy congratulates the lady on her retirement, but the woman only sniffs and nods quickly. Darcy never really got to know her very well, and sometimes she felt that the older woman always saw her as the fresh, young competition. But Darcy keeps her smile in place despite the rude look she receives.
“Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?” Edwin asks as he rescues her from further scowling looks.
Darcy smiles. “Yes, but you can tell me again.”
No one else is dancing, but Darcy doesn’t care. This is their night of freedom and they’re going to enjoy every second of it.
She hasn’t felt this giddy about a night out since she was in college. She had forgotten how much fun a night out could be.
After they’re breathless and sweating, Darcy hugs Edwin tight and whispers in his ear, “Let’s sneak out early and head home.”
“You want to leave already?” he asks, surprised. He is enjoying the night out too and doesn’t want it to end.
She smiles. “Let’s have the night to ourselves,” she says. “We’ll pick up Jackson from my mom in the morning.”
Edwin grins and grips her hand as he leads her toward the door.

- Both of them rolled a wish for a baby during this session.
- And so, to spoil the suspense… 😉 Darcy got pregnant after their night out! She’s due March 2021.
- A few outtakes from this session below:
When they drove to the club for their night out, they decided to take the police cruiser as their transportation, lol.
Edwin is on the job…digging through your trash.
Just a cute picture of Jackson. Aww.
Another look at the police station I built. Downstairs is the lobby. Upstairs is the breakroom (where Edwin was drinking coffee) and a couple of offices. There’s also a jail in here, but I didn’t take a picture of that.
And just a pretty picture of the moon over the water. I love the effects like this in the game.
Aw! Darcy and Edwin remain adorable. Another baby – I’m happy about that! I can see why they were worried about adding another kid into the mix, given how busy they are already. But hey, Jackson has to start school some time, right? LOL.
So game play question: are you only pretending Darcy is a lawyer or is there a custom law career now? TS3 is still kind of lacking in careers from what I’ve seen but I don’t hunt around for CC very often!
Ha, yes, I think they’ll find things a bit easier once Jackson is in school and they don’t have to worry about daytime care for him!
I’m using a custom law career for Darcy. Here it is: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=386203 It has the same levels as the TS2 career. 🙂
Wow, a baby is so exciting especially for these two!
I’m very excited about another baby for them! I can’t wait to see what they have and what the baby looks like. 😀
Oh Yay! I’m excited about another baby! Darcy and Edwin are adorable together. They really do have their hands full with their careers, and id liked sewing their routine and the police station. The moon pic is stunning!
They definitely stay busy! But I think they’ll manage to work out a new routine with the baby once things get settled a bit. Darcy thrives on routines! 😉
Oh man, this sounds like my mother-in-law trying to get me to have just ONE kid! Too funny. Poor Darcy! At least they got a night out on the town… even if it resulted in another one on the way. These guys are gonna be super busy soon enough. 😉
LOVE the moon picture!
Ha, I know what that’s like! 😉 Darcy should have known that finally getting some time alone with Edwin would result in another baby on the way, lol. 😉
A sweet family but, wow, they’re really busy already, they’ll have their hands full with another baby, too.
I liked the pictures at the end. The moon is beautiful and, lol at digging through the trash!
