Zane lets the water fill the sink, listening to the soft whoosh of the water from the faucet. The house around him is quiet, muted with the darkness.
Carol sighs as she walks into the courthouse early one morning after dropping the kids off at school. She had been summoned for jury duty and isn’t exactly thrilled about it. She has a ton of work to be done–lessons to be planned, end of year tests to prepare for (because she knows the end of the school year will be here far too quickly), artwork assignments that still need to be graded. This isn’t a good time for her to have jury duty.

Anna nods thoughtfully. “Very nice. Um, keep up the good work.”

First up for the birthdays this summer is one-year-old Sasha Lloyd, who looks like a female clone of her daddy. Seeing her reinforced to me just how much Matthew takes after Nancy, because he’s never had the same nose and mouth that Ian had as a toddler/child. But Sasha is 100% Ian’s daughter!
