Archive for the ‘Tours’ Category

I like to have working lots to use for pictures, so I had a hospital I had built when I first created the TS3 version of Pine Hollow. But I was never happy with it, so I recently rebuilt it and since I have the essential areas furnished I wanted to give a tour. This lot is unique in that it’s one of the few I actually built and decorated entirely myself.

The design of this building is based on a building I saw on an episode of The First 48. I think it was the Dallas, Texas police headquarters (don’t quote me on that though. I do know for sure that it was a police headquarters building, and I think that particular scene was in Dallas, but not 100%). I liked the diagonal wing of the building set off in a different color from the rest, so I decided to use it for my hospital. The diagonal wing houses the cafeteria, the psychology department, and the nursery. The entire fourth floor is empty for now. The hospital is next door to the police station, which I haven’t yet rebuilt from the rabbit hole, but it’s on my to do list!

Lot Tour: The Willow

Laura reminded me that I hadn’t shown Pine Hollow lately, which I have been meaning to do. I had wanted to wait until I remodeled the university, but I’m not in too big of a hurry to do that right now since I don’t have any university students at the moment and it’s going to involve a lot of building and decorating. So I decided to go ahead and show Pine Hollow now in its current state and start on some lot tours that I’ve also been meaning to do.

As mentioned previously, I used AweSims’s Redcliffs hood, so the hood was already set up and loaded with lots, but I’ve been making some changes here and there to fit my game and the lots I wanted. It’s a beautifully designed hood though! I highly recommend it for anyone who isn’t motivated enough to build completely from scratch. I’m building and decorating lots as I need them while playing, so there are still changes to come to the hood but this is what it looks like right now:

Downtown Arcadia

I’ve mentioned a couple of times in posts or comments that I’m building a downtown onto Pine Hollow. I never had one before because my old computer was slow to open subhoods so I didn’t like using them. Since my new computer runs faster I don’t mind having a subhood for Pine Hollow with new places to visit.

So I created Arcadia, a city that I imagine to be about 20 to 30 minutes from Pine Hollow.

(I imagine Pine Hollow to be on the other side of that mountain, where the road going up it leads to.)

Tour – Pine Hollow

I had a request for a tour of the neighborhood, so here are a few shots of the houses and businesses. I’ve marked off the homes and a few of the lots so you can see how they’re laid out in the neighborhood.

Photobucket
An overview of the main part of town, with only occupied homes listed. There are bigger, more expensive homes on a hill looking over everything else, but since no one lives there yet I didn’t take any pictures of those (although you can see a couple of them to the left in this photo). I’ve marked off all of the occupied lots, except one little plumbob you can see that I didn’t put a name on. That’s where Iris Revenue, who collects payments for various things, lives. She doesn’t get played, she’s just put on an empty lot and my other Sims send checks to her.

I’ve tried to set up the town so that the businesses are in the middle with homes on the outskirts.
